Exploring questions such as: Will it get overpopulated? Is everyone the same age? Will it be boring? Is everyone healthy there?

What Lies Beyond Death?

The Bible explains that we are no longer conscious after death. We don’t think or feel anything (Hebrews 9:27). It continues to explain that this is a temporary “sleep” that eventually results in our resurrection (Corinthians 15:21–23).1

I explore the following questions: Will Heaven get overpopulated? Is everyone the same age? Will it be boring? Is everyone healthy there?

Will We Be Conscious of Those Still Alive?

When we die and go to Heaven, it could be our soul that experiences the journey.

The closest we have come to knowing this experience is from a few cases of patients who have been in a coma. Doctors monitored the patients’ conditions with an electroencephalogram (EEG) and found no brain activity.2

Yet, some of them recovered, revealing that they could describe what occurred while they were in a coma.

That would imply that our consciousness leaves our body or resides somewhere else. They had a near-death experience that resulted in an out-of-body phenomenon with a perception of themselves.3

Charles Hunter made it clear in his book, "Consciousness." He defined it as awareness, the ability to experience or feel, and having a sense of selfhood.4

That can apply to those in Heaven, being conscious of those still living.

How Old Is Everyone in Heaven?

This question has taken a lot of thought, since people die at various ages. Some die young, possibly from accidents, and others die in old age.

So, I wondered how we consciously envision everyone we knew before death. Is everyone the same age they were when we last saw them alive?

What if they died after us? In that case, will they be older when we run into them in Heaven? Will we even recognize them?

On the other hand, imagine if everyone were to start over as an infant. Well, if that were true, who would care for us?

Do you see my point? I’m having difficulty figuring out a reasonable age for everyone when they are in Heaven.

That question arises because we are thinking of our physical bodies. Remember, we leave that behind when we die. We would not have our body in its present form.

If we had continued in the afterlife with our bodies as they were when we died, that would imply people who were old or disabled would remain that way. To be in that condition would not be the Heaven we envision. Would it?

To settle that issue, I concluded that our soul and consciousness are what survive our death, not our physical bodies. Therefore, there would not be any effects of age or aging. Will Everyone Be Healthy in Heaven?

It would be terrible to imagine eternity if we were drastically ill when we died or had old age disabilities and continued with that condition in Heaven.

Is that how we would spend the rest of eternity? No! There must be a better way. After all, it’s Heaven! Right?

But since we don’t take our bodies with us, we need not be concerned with what our physical condition was before death. Our souls wouldn’t have health issues without a physical body.

Is Heaven Big Enough for Everyone Who Ever Lived?

I always wondered if Heaven could get overpopulated. If everyone who dies goes to Heaven (well, maybe not everyone), then wouldn’t its resources run out?

We are very aware of our three-dimensional world. We take an airplane to get to distant lands. We hop in a car to drive to the next town.

However, physical three-dimensional space doesn’t exist in Heaven. Therefore, one can be anywhere they want to be without physically moving.

The so-called “quantum theory of consciousness” presents the possibility of “other realms of existence” between subjective perception and objective physical reality.

Without having a physical body in Heaven, our consciousness can jump from one location to another in “quantum leaps” with an objective view, while our perception of reality remains subjective.5

Since there are no limitations on physical space, it’s evident that Heaven will never become overpopulated.

With no restrictions on physical space, people can communicate with one another without needing to be in the same location.

That creates exciting opportunities. One can have a conversation with anyone who ever lived.

Will We See Our Parents in Heaven When We Die?

Are people who passed away waiting for their other family members to join them eventually?

The sequence of time throughout our lives helps us keep track of past experiences and future events.

However, in Heaven, the concept of time does not exist. There is no tomorrow. There is always only today. No one longs for the past or anticipates the future.

Parents don’t need to wait until their children grow old and die to be reunited. Everyone’s soul is already there — those who have ever lived and those yet to die.

Will Eternal Bliss Become Boring?

We assume that when one dies, they go to Heaven forever. How does one avoid getting bored with all that time on their hands?

Boredom stems from anticipation. When all we can do is wait for something to occur, such as meeting our loved ones in Heaven who are still alive. That can bring on boredom, especially if we don’t occupy our time with something else that invigorates us.

However, as we concluded in the previous section, the entity of time does not exist in Heaven.

God may have had endless time to complete His creation of “the heavens and the earth” since time didn’t exist before creation. And there is no need for it in the hereafter either.

So, if the passage of time doesn’t exist in Heaven, that leaves us with eternal bliss that will never be boring.

What Do Our Loved Ones Do in Heaven?

To answer this question, remember that time does not exist in Heaven. Without time constraints, they will have the opportunity to enjoy endless experiences, meeting everyone who has ever lived and those yet to be born.

That will bring about an ongoing adventure that will always be exciting.

An Overall Perspective

Everyone’s soul will be available to each other, allowing them to share knowledge and alternative viewpoints.

That experience will bring enormous enlightenment with a newly acquired understanding.

They will be able to experience everything overlooked while they were alive. Everything they have ever questioned while living will become known with complete comprehension.

That is the most incredible experience, and it will have undeniable clarity on the reason for their existence and what their lives have meant for all humankind.
